Evan Ross
Evan Ross is a survivor of both pediatric and adult cancers, having
had Bilateral Retino-blastoma in 1972, and a Glioblastoma Multiforme
in 1995. He has survived by utilizing not only the most advanced
and innovative western technologies available, but a vast array
of complementary medicine modalities as well. Now, as a practitioner
of Oriental Medicine, he strives to help others recover from serious
illness by teaching them how to integrate the best of both Eastern
and Western medicine.
Evan's early education interests included music and the martial arts. In 1991, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hartt School of Music in Connecticut. After college, he pursued a career as a record producer, producing and co-producing several well-known albums, including George and Ira Gershwin's Oh, Kay! for which he received the 1995 Gramophone Award for "Best Music Theater Album of the Year." Unfortunately, this was the last recording he would produce, as he was forced to leave the record business following his diagnosis with a Grade IV Glioblastoma Multiforme.
After undergoing two surgeries, enduring unconventional high dose chemotherapy, and embracing several modalities of complementary medicine, he emerged tumor free in May of 1996. He has remained so ever since.
Upon regaining his health, Evan found great meaning in his illness and recovery, and decided to draw upon his personal experiences to help others. To that end, he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, California in June of 2000. He is now board certified as a licensed acupuncturist by the State of California, and as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine by the state of New Mexico. He is also a diplomate of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in both acupuncture and Chinese herbology.
As a practitioner of Oriental Medicine, Evan enables his patients to integrate complementary and conventional modalities in a safe and managed environment. Given his interest in complementary medicine research, he was appointed the Complementary Medicine Advisor by the National Brain Tumor Foundation, and assists them in their efforts to establish research initiatives for complementary and alternative medicine in the area of neuro-oncology. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Center for Integrative Health, Medicine and Research, and has spoken on the integration of complementary and conventional medicine for Fox News, the American Cancer Society, UCLA School of Medicine, the National Brain Tumor Foundation, The Brain Tumor Society, The Center for Mind/Body Medicine, Cedars-Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center, Emperor's College, and others.
Evan is the author of several articles on both complementary and conventional medicine, including most recently, a piece Natural Health Magazine. He has written for professional journals such as The Lancet Oncology and has been the subject of over a dozen articles for international publications ranging from Newsday to the highly respected Argentine news magazine Noticias. At present, he is writing a book about his experiences with cancer and the process of healing.
Evan Ross has a rare gift. As a patient himself, he has gained unique insight into the nature of disease and the needs of the patient. As a primary health care provider, he has cultivated skills that enable him to draw upon his experience, and the wisdom he gained from it, in order to help others achieve health and well-being.
Evan Ross has recently been featured in the Los Angeles Times and Natural Health Magazine.
